Low-cost carrier Jet2 has announced plans for its 12th UK base at Bournemouth Airport.

The Leeds-based airline will operate flights from the southern England airport to 16 destinations from summer 2025, with two aircraft being based at Bournemouth from the start of April next year.

Currently the only carriers offering passenger flights from Bournemouth are easyJet (which offers seasonal services to Geneva and Lyon), Ryanair (which operates around 20 year-round and seasonal routes), and TUI Airways.

Out of the 16 destinations being launched by Jet2, only two of them (Fuerteventura and Madeira) will be exclusive to Jet2 from Bournemouth Airport. The full list of routes is as follows:

  • Tenerife – up to three weekly services
  • Fuerteventura – weekly services (Wednesdays)
  • Gran Canaria – weekly services (Sundays)
  • Lanzarote – up to two weekly services (Mondays, Fridays)
  • Alicante – up to two weekly services (Tuesdays, Saturdays)
  • Palma (Majorca) – up to four weekly services (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays)
  • Ibiza – up to two weekly services (Thursdays, Sundays)
  • Menorca – weekly services (Sundays)
  • Antalya – up to two weekly services (Wednesdays, Saturdays)
  • Dalaman – up to two weekly services (Thursdays, Sundays)
  • Faro (Algarve) – up to two weekly services (Mondays, Fridays)
  • Madeira – weekly services (Thursdays)
  • Crete (Heraklion) – weekly services (Tuesdays)
  • Corfu – weekly services (Wednesdays)
  • Rhodes – weekly services (Tuesdays)
  • Zante – weekly services (Thursdays)

Jet2 is also set to launch a new base at Liverpool John Lennon Airport at the end of this month, with around 25 year-round and seasonal routes to destinations including Alicante, Bodrum, Corfu, Ibiza and Rhodes.

In January the carrier announced it would be bringing its new route between Manchester and Porto forward by a year, “on the back of huge demand for city breaks and flights”.

Commenting on the news Andrew Bell, CEO of RCA, Regional and City Airports, owner of Bournemouth Airport, said:

“This is fantastic news for passengers and represents a huge vote of confidence in Bournemouth Airport by Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, by choosing Bournemouth as their new base airport in what is a major expansion of their operations into the south of England.

“It will create new employment locally, add 16 fabulous new destinations from Bournemouth, up to 27 extra flights a week and will see an estimated additional 300,000 passengers using their local airport.

“Together with our work on route development; our significant recent investments in new facilities, equipment and staff to build capacity; this exciting partnership with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays represents a step change in establishing Bournemouth Airport as a nationally significant regional hub for passenger air operations.”
