Accor is to add its first Ibis Styles property in Bournemouth this summer, marking the 30th hotel under the brand in the UK.

Ibis Styles Bournemouth will be housed within a property which dates back to 1936 – according to this report by bournemouthecho.co.uk, it was previously trading as the Hotel Royale.

The property is set to reopen in June having been “completely redesigned”, and will feature 76 rooms, a ground floor bar, lounge and restaurant, a kids’ zone and an ice cream station.

Interiors have been created by Devon-based Hampton Design Studios, with “bold yet sophisticated pastel colours of ice cream, which Bournemouth is well known for”.

The property is situated a few roads back from Bournemouth’s beachfront, and around a mile from Bournemouth rail station.

The hotel will operate under a franchise agreement with NQ2, which recently rebranded Bournemouth’s Queens Hotel under Accor’s Mercure collection, following refurbishment works.

Accor adds Sheffield and Bournemouth properties

Commenting on the news Philip Lassman, VP Development, Accor Northern Europe said:

“We are proud to announce our second Bournemouth location and our second hotel with NQ2. We have enormous confidence in the coastal location of this hotel. Growing up in Bournemouth myself, I know only too well that the town has been one of the UK’s leading seaside resorts for many generations.

“Bournemouth has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, particularly in the last 12 months as the UK has embraced staycations. The UK’s coastline continues to attract demand domestically and internationally and the opening of this hotel reflects our positivity toward UK development.

“We believe this new hotel is an excellent addition to the ibis Styles portfolio and very much look forward to further serving the Bournemouth community and visitors to the stunning area.”
