Singapore Airlines has announced a new partnership with Samoan-New Zealand chef Monica Galetti.

The MasterChef judge and owner of the recently closed Mere restaurant in London will curate seasonal menus for business class, first class and suite customers departing on SIA flights from the UK.

This will include services from Heathrow, Manchester and also Gatwick – a new route which is launching in June and which will offer connecting flights to Sydney with a total journey time of 21 hours and 40 minutes.

The new service will launch in the fourth quarter of this year, and will showcase “the finest British ingredients with an emphasis on provenance and local suppliers”, with a nod to Galetti’s South Pacific roots.

A number of signature Mere dishes will feature on the new menus, which will include soups, starters, main courses and desserts.

Singapore Airlines is also set to revamp its premium economy inflight experience from the end of this month, with improved meal and beverage options and a new amenity kit.

The carrier has developed over 200 new appetisers, main course and dessert options for premium economy, with customers being offered a choice of two main course options (an international or an Asian dish) on each flight.

Commenting on the news Galetti said:

“Food and travel are my two great passions, which have taken me around the world. However, collaborating with the world’s best airline is my most exciting journey yet!

“I am delighted to partner with Singapore Airlines to design a culinary experience that reflects the finesse, excellence, and refined luxury it is known for.

“I will be drawing upon inspiration from my travels to curate a vibrant menu that celebrates fresh seasonal local produce.”
