Citing addition demand Cathay is adding a further Manchester flight from end October making 5 flights per week.
CX259 will operate on Sundays, using an Airbus A350-900 departing Hong Kong at 0035 local time arriving Manchester at 0755 local.
The overnight return, CX258, departs MAN at 1115 local and arrives HKG at 0645 local the following day.

IIRC this flight used to fly via Amsterdam?

It certainly did in the 90’s.

Also via Paris on some days – but both were a very long time ago when the route was starting up.

My first ever CX flight was MAN-AMS-HKG, upper deck on a 747, in 1996.

First of many landings in Kai Tak.

Slightly OT, I remember mine was LGW-CDG-HKG in 1991, near the back of the lower deck.
Seems a lifetime ago, given the numerous non stop daily flights from LHR CX now offer.
