Easyhotel has opened its third Spanish property, with the unveiling of a 230-room hotel in Madrid.
The property is situated in the capital’s southeast district of Atocha, around a 20-minute drive from the city’s Barajas airport, and is operating under a franchise agreement with Continuum Hospitality Group.
Easyhotel Madrid join the group’s existing Spanish properties in Barcelona and Malaga, with further hotels under development in Valencia, and a second Barcelona property.
The group opened its first hotel in London’s Lexham Gardens in 2005, and currently operates 44 hotels across the UK and Europe, 19 of which are franchised and 25 of which owned / leased.
The firm has ambitions to double its international portfolio to over 100 hotels by 2026, with 20 per cent of the properties planned to be in Spain.
Recent openings include Easyhotel Dublin, and EasyHotel Paris Charles de Gaulle Villepinte.
Commenting on the news Karim Malak, chief executive officer at Easyhotel, said:
“We’re delighted to be introducing our 19th franchised hotel to the Easyhotel Group and expanding our low-carbon, affordable hotel brand across Europe.
“We’ve already seen numerous successful franchise openings across the continent, including recently in Malaga, and have another opening in Zurich scheduled for 2023.
“Our model is an exciting opportunity for potential franchisees who want to work with a well-known brand and tap into the affordable hotel sector.
“We’re seeing an ever-increasing demand for affordable hotels, underpinned by the wider economic environment. As a result, people’s travel habits are changing, and customers are being more discerning about their spending.
“Easyhotel is well adapted to deal with this climate and we look forward to welcoming some of the six million visitors that Madrid sees each year – whether that be for business meetings, football matches or exploring the city’s culture.“
