Hilton has announced plans for the first property under its Tapestry Collection brand in Northern Ireland.
The Marcus Hotel Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is set to open in 2025, hopefully in time for golf’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush in the same year.
The property will be housed within a listed building on Main Street which has served as a hotel and bakery between 1895 and the 1980s (local media report that it has previously traded as the Londonderry Hotel).
The 83-room property will house a café, restaurant and bar, and will retain features of the building including the original mosaic signage.

Hilton launched the Tapestry Collection brand in 2017, and currently has around 100 properties either operating or under development, including The Slate Denver which opened in May last year.
There is currently just one Tapestry Collection property listed in the UK – The Samuel Ryder Hotel St Albans.
Commenting on the news Graham Dodd, managing director, development, UK and Ireland at Hilton, said:
“Northern Ireland has seen a significant jump in tourism in recent years, with travellers coming from all over the world to experience the charm of this captivating country.
“Portrush continues to experience growing demand for high-quality accommodation that provides an authentic experience rooted in local culture, making it the perfect location for Northern Ireland’s first Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel.”
