Hilton is set to add its second Tapestry Collection property in Italy next year.

The hotel group has signed a franchise agreement with Hotel Ambasciatori Sri to open Ambasciatori Venice Mestre, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in the Mestre area of Venice.

The 83-room hotel will undergo a full renovation, drawing on the hotel’s local history and Mestre’s proximity to the lagoon, and will feature an earthy colour palette throughout with rusts, washed blues, dark yellows and browns.

Facilities will include a restaurant, bar, fitness room and 100 sqm of meetings and events space spread across three meeting rooms.

The hotel is located 800 metres from Venezia Mestre train station, which serves 31 million passengers annually, and ten minutes across the lagoon from the Centro Storico di Venezia.

Mestre has been the subject of a strong development drive in recent years, with artists and painters establishing new studios in the area while public areas such as Poerio Street have undergone major renovations. There are also plans underway to make Marghera Port Venice’s primary tourist port.

The brand is set to open its first Italian hotel under the brand this year with the arrival of Cosmopolita Hotel Rome.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Hilton, said:

“Tapestry Collection by Hilton is growing rapidly across Europe, and has added its first hotels in Spain, France, Portugal and the U.K. since its introduction in 2021.

“This exciting addition in Venice demonstrates our commitment to developing destinations across Italy, with seven new hotels slated to join Hilton’s portfolio in the next 12 months. Venice is a city steeped in culture and history that sees more than 13 million visitors per year and Ambasciatori Venice Mestre, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, will add a stunning new hotel to our growing Tapestry Collection.”

Hilton launched the Tapestry Collection brand in 2017, and currently has over 70 properties either operating or under development, including the recently added Atocha Hotel Madrid and Hotel Camille Paris Gare de Lyon.

Hilton describes the brand as a portfolio of “original hotels that offer guests unique style and vibrant personality, and encourage guests to explore the local destination”.
