Virgin Red is continuing to add new options for members to redeem their Virgin Points, with the latest partnership with the group’s Virgin Trains Ticketing app.
Members can now put their points towards the purchase of rail tickets across Great Britain, starting from 200 points for a £1 discount, up to 50,000 points for a £250 discount.
The redemption rate values one Virgin Point at 0.5p, which is the same as the new Costa, Pizza Express and Nike gift card redemption options which were launched last month.
The Virgin Trains Ticketing app already allows members to earn three points for every £1 spent on rail tickets.
To celebrate the launch of the new redemption option, Virgin Trains Ticketing is running a prize draw for a lucky member to win one million Virgin Points. Members will receive an entry code for each booking made through the app by 27 August, 2023.
The Virgin Red scheme was officially opened up to new members in 2021, allowing Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members to join Virgin Red and link their accounts together, expanding earn and burn opportunities.
Both schemes use the same currency, following the rebranding of Flying Club miles as Virgin Points in September 2020.
The group has gradually been adding earning and redemption options to the Virgin Red programme, with 56 new retailers unveiled as online points earning partners in August 2022, and Cineworld, Picturehouse and Showcase cinemas joining the scheme’s redemption portfolio late last year.
