Virgin Red has unveiled its latest redemption partners, with members now able to spend points on visits to three cinema chains.

A total of 140 Cineworld, Picturehouse and Showcase cinemas have joined the scheme’s redemption portfolio.

Tickets cost from 1,800 Virgin Points at Showcase cinemas, 1,900 points at Cineworld, and 2,250 points at Picturehouse.

The Virgin Red scheme was officially opened up to new members in 2021, allowing Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members to join Virgin Red and link their accounts together, expanding earn and burn opportunities.

Both schemes use the same currency, following the rebranding of Flying Club miles as Virgin Points in September 2020.

In August Virgin Red added 56 new retailers to its online points earning programme, including technology company Dell, home improvement retailer Homebase, fragrance and personal care brand Molton Brown, and tickets sale firm Ticketmaster.

Commenting on the news Richard X Moore, director of loyalty rewards for Virgin Red, said:

“I’m delighted that Cineworld, Picturehouse and Showcase have joined the Virgin Red family, giving our members even more ways to spend their points.

“With tickets starting from just 1,800 Virgin Points, members can soon enjoy a night out at the movies by simply earning points from doing their Christmas shopping with retailers via Virgin Red.”

In other news, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members can get a boost of up to 70 per cent points when purchasing Virgin Points before the end of December, as follows:
