IHG Hotels and Resorts is celebrating its Holiday Inn Express brand surpassing 3,000 open properties worldwide.

The budget brand was launched in 1990 by then owner Bass, and now offers more than 300,000 rooms in 2,100 cities.

The Holiday Inn Express pipeline of nearly 650 properties accounts for nearly a third of IHG global pipeline, with forthcoming hotels including the Holiday Inn Express Rome Airport.

Recent additions include the Holiday Inn Express Dusseldorf Hauptbahnhof – which at 455 rooms is the brand’s largest property in Europe – and the Holiday Inn Express Nice Grand Arenas, which forms part of a dual-branded complex in the southern French city.

To celebrate the milestone IHG is giving away 300,000 IHG Rewards points to the winning social video submission on the subject “Why you love Holiday Inn Express”. A further ten submissions will each receive 3,000 points.
