IHG Hotels and Resorts has opened its largest Holiday Inn Express property in Europe, located in the German city of Dusseldorf.

The property has taken the spot of the Holiday Inn Amsterdam North Riverside, which opened in July 2020 with 438 rooms.

Holiday Inn Express Dusseldorf – Hauptbahnhof offers 455 rooms and the brand’s Next Generation design, meaning rooms include blackout shades, a pillow menu, free wifi and a complimentary ‘Express Start’ breakfast.

The property also includes flexible working spaces with modern technology, two fully-equipped meeting rooms for up to 18 people, and a self-service business centre.

The hotel is located just one kilometre from the city’s central railway and near to the Old Town, Konigsallee shopping area and Museum Kunstpalast. It is also a short distance from Dusseldorf International airport.

Hendrik Engel, General Manager at Holiday Inn Express Dusseldorf – Hauptbahnhof, commented:

“We are absolutely delighted to be opening Europe’s largest Holiday Inn Express here in Dusseldorf. The hotel’s location is ideal for guests seeking to explore the city while enjoying the modern comforts the Holiday Inn Express brand is known for. Dusseldorf’s many museums and attractions are popular with locals and visitors and the city is a recognised business and conference hub. Our hotel is within easy reach of the main transport links, providing greater convenience for short term stays.”

The property has been opened in partnership with Primestar, and follows recent European openings in Edinburgh (UK), Fulda (Germany), Nice (France) and Lustenau (Austria).

Holiday Inn Express was launched in 1991 and currently boasts 283 open hotels across Europe with a further 60 in the pipeline. Globally, the brand counts 3,022 open hotels and 655 in the pipeline.
