Marriott International has opened a new property under its Moxy Hotels brand in the city of Bordeaux in France.

Moxy Bordeaux is located in the city’s Wet Docks harbour district, with the 133 rooms providing views of the port, the docks, or the “silo garden” designed by François Neveux and Bernard Rouyer.

Six of the rooms are designed to accommodate up to four people, with five of these including a 26 sqm balcony with panoramic views. Rooms feature industrial-style decor and include 42-inch smart TV’s and free wifi, while the hotel also has a lobby bar and a “microforest terrace”.

The ground floor will host a programme of events including presentations by local groups, clothing exchanges, yoga sessions, and sets by local DJs or artists.

The hotel is also within walking distance of the city’s Cité du Vin, a cultural centre dedicated to the heritage of wine.

The hotel states that it is aiming to achieve the Green Key and Green Globe certification.

Marriott launched the Moxy brand in 2013, with the first hotel opening in Milan the following year.

The brand currently has around 70 properties across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, with recent openings including a UK property in Chester, and the first Moxy hotel in Taiwan.

The brand is also set to debut in the Middle East in 2025, with a 320-room property in Dubai.
