Intercontinental Hotels Group has opened the first property under its midscale Avid brand in Mexico.
Avid Hotel Fresnillo is located in the north central Mexican state of Zacatecas, around 40 minutes from Zacatecas City.
Features of the new-build property include 100 rooms with “best-in-class mattress”, “sound-reducing features for a superior night’s sleep”, a dedicated workspace, and “open, easy-to-use storage”.
Rooms also have 55-inch TVs, with the ability to cast entertainment via personal devices via IHG Studio.
Guests also benefit from free continental breakfast, a gym, and a 24-hour market.
The Avid brand was unveiled in September 2017, and has been designed to operate under a franchise model, comprising new-build properties offering a minimum of three floors.
IHG says that there are currently two other Avid hotels in the building phase in the Mexican cities of Tijuana and Guanajuato, with ten more properties expected to open in the country “in the next few years”.
The majority of the pipeline for the Avid brand is in the US, with over 200 Avid hotels under development.
The first European Avid property is set to open in 2021 at Frankfurt airport.
