Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened the first property under its new midscale Avid brand.

The 87-room Avid Hotel Oklahoma City – Quail Springs is operating under a franchise agreement with owners Champion Hotels, the largest privately-owned hotel operator in the US.

Brand signature features include IHG Studio, allowing the direct casting of entertainment from guests’ personal devices to 55-inch in-room TVs, and a “best-in-class sleep experience”, including a choice of firm and soft pillows and blackout roller shades.

The hotel also features a heated outdoor pool, fitness centre, business centre, free grab ‘n’ go breakfast, and convenience store.

The Avid brand was unveiled in September 2017, and has been designed to operate under a franchise model, comprising new-build properties offering a minimum of three floors.

Elie Maalouf, CEO, The Americas for IHG said that the Avid brand had “more than 130 hotel deals already signed across the US, Canada and Mexico”, positioning it as “a long-term driver of growth for IHG in the Americas”.

“Opening our first Avid hotels property less than a year after the brand launch is an important milestone for IHG,” said Maalouf.

“We worked closely with our Owner Advisory Board, including leading owners such as Champion Hotels, to develop a brand that is just right for both guests and owners.”
