Interesting reply HL – certainly looks like you (again) don’t like being called out for trying to advertise your wares in your not too subtle POSTS on the benefits of your miracle cures, be it Swiss or Voip. Whats next Air Conditioners?

As for me, i make no bones of wanting to find out more info on the iPad so that i can decide if its worth forking out money for my business traveling. That being said i don’t link my work to this forum to trawl for new business, if i want to do that i use other iPhone or iPad apps such as Linkedin.

So sticking to the subject for me shouldn’t be a problem – but i guess time will tell if you can.

Ozavanti – dont take the bait – its all on another thread – take a look at the thread under technology, “How Do You Keep in Touch on Business” and then read

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/10/19/swissdisk_failure/

The firm should have called themeselves “Las Vegas Disc” – it is as much Swiss as the moons made of cheese…………..!

this is fun… MartynSinclair giving advice on a service he’s never used!
(and you can bet it would a free account if he did try it!!)

MartynSinclair who has never owned an iPad or an iPhone yet feels compelled to describe how his laptop and Blackberry are better!

The most recent reports show that SwissDisk is proud to report 100% uptime… 100% seems ok to me

MartynSinclair you have established that you lack the credibility to post any advice or suggest anything related to the iPad. You don’t have one, you indicate that you really don’t like the concept and you have probably never even gone to the Apple store to test one… so why try to dispense advice or suggestions to someone else?

HonestLogic, your posts are pathetic. I cannot believe that such childish comments would come from a grown man.

Grow up and take your sales pitch elsewhere.

    🙂

i appreciate your style may work quite well in North America, where anything from a car to a presidency can be sold on the basis of who makes the most noise, but consider that you are addressing an audience which (like 95% of the worlds population) is outside these boundries.

speaking as a north western european, i prefer the more subtle approach, although your post about using the larger screen for viewing porn at 00.45 GMT on 5/7/10 will doubtless be a tick in the box for any would-be purchasers currently sitting on the fence.

i do not have an ipad. i will not be purchasing an ipad (my laptop has an ample screen for view pornography, as well as doing some work every now and then).

i started to read this thread in a hope that maybe it would offer me some insight as to why i should maybe consider it, but none of the posts have provided such an incentive; least of all your crass style which is to lambast anyone with whom you do not agree (this could be seen as a metaphor, but please forgive me if it’s too subtle for you).

you’ve offered nothing other than boring rhetoric offering the same dull arguments again and again and it’s fairly clear that you are making little headway.

as for me….i just enjoy the sport.

BABenji…. in my opiniom you are correct… finding helpful tips is what the forum is supposed to be about…. third party apps and services like SWISSDISK OFFER HUGE BENEFITS, thus my original post

Thank you very much for your compliments regarding my posts. The iPAD is a wonderful creation and we can only imagine the technology becoming even more efficient as the technolgy advances.

We looked at third party solutions for keeping the team informed through synching and updating, but we could not find any that offered a solid enough solution. Each company had strengths but failed to recognize serious failures. The main one being that there was no visible disaster recovery system to reassure us that if things do go wrong (as history has proven that they can go wrong) , a published recovery process can be implemented. Most get outs for thrid party data storage companies when things go wrong is to simply move to a new platform where a success rate of 100% can be promoted, forgetting a previous total failure.

We therefore implemented a revised server programme and reviewed IT functions to cover off the disaster recovery in the knowledge that accountabilty and responsabilty for all our IT remained in house.

The data being stored and transfered is simply too valuble to enturst to any third party without a visible recovery process and my advice to anyone is to remain well away from third party data storage companies without having been invited to view their disaster recovery process.

I am a relatively new member in this forum and do not wish to get involved in the politics and silly games. However, the Board of Swiss Disc must be extremely concerned to read that they are being represented on this forum by somebody accusing another poster of sexual deviancy.

Moving forward, to more postive things, for iPAD to succeed even further, it would be extremely useful if a thread could be opened simply entitled “how to improve the iPAD” – where forum members can list in bullet point the good, the bad and the needs development – issues that perhaps could be forwarded to either the UK or USA offices of iPAD/Apple

Any thoughts on this idea …………….??

who needs the approval of MartynSinclair to use SwissDisk? not me! who needs his advice on the iPad? not me!

    moving right along…

Chester… this is a pretty small audience… check out these forums http://www.theipadguide.com or try this one for some spicey comments!
    http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/2010/01/29/ipad-sucks/

If I find out that SwissDisk changes their public policy regarding restorations I’ll let you know.

The moral of the “forum post story” is clear: you can’t believe anything that MartynSinclair posts whether it relates to the iPad or SwissDisk!

I say… use your own “Honest Logic” and karma will treat you fairly!

    HonestLogic,

this is an open forum and you are therefore able to post your opinions on any of the topics that you wish to contribute to.

What you are not entitled to do is denegrate fellow posters with personal attacks like your attacks on Martyn Synclair just because his posts do not support your views on a particular topic.

You attack him, on a purely personal level, which is in itself totally unacceptable on this or any other forum and you then accuse him of lacking the courage to post a link to his company or facebook page so that we can all ridicule him etc, etc. this coming from a person who does not even have the courage to use their own name when posting.

What gives you the right to attack any fellow poster in that way? no doubt you will now remove the objectionable posts containing the personal attacks as you are probably not a big enough person to see that they were wrong and apologise for them.

In future HL, by all means let us read your views but keep the nasty personal attacks out of them as there is no place for them here. If you cannot then simply stop posting.

As an aside, many thanks to many fellow posters for their kind messages wishing me better after my recent stay in hospital. Very much appreciated.

    Safe travels to all,

    Jonathan

to Jonathan, all.. please follow the entire forum threads before you jump to judgement… MartynSinclair has chosen to take the low road when it comes to myself and my post regarding SwissDisk so I have every right to expose him as the fraud that he is.

I deleted my posts to Oz and BB as they are good men no doubt… however the truth about MartynSinclair follows…

MartynSinclair prefers to post irrelevant, off topic comments and state negative opinions about devices and services that he’s never owned or used. Considering this… who cares about the dribble he calls a post? Anyone?

MartynSinclair’s unjustified mission to prove that SwissDisk isn’t a worthy service is a joke! Try SwissDisk for yourself, why take his weak word or lame posts when he’s never even tried it??

I’m not sorry to point out a rat when I smell one. Did I present SwissDisk as a savior for the masses on this forum? No. Did I suggest that SwissDisk a perfect, flawless system? No. SwissDisk is, in my opinion, a very reliable and very useful service, something the average iPad user might find very easy to use.

As a comparison to SwissDisk’s quality… can someone tell me that Apple, Microsoft, HTC/Google, etc, has ever released a perfect product, service or piece of software? Not hardly.

MartynSinclair is probably just jealous because of the skeletons in his closet so he tries to berate me and denegrate SwissDisk… but what does this prove? Nothing! MartynSinclair you have failed to prove anything.

The fact is that SwissDisk is a quality, well put together, easy to use, secure online storage service that iPad, iPhone and Droid users will find very refreshing.

Nothing that some hack, who’s never used the service, will ever post can take away the value of a quality service like SwissDisk. Enjoy!

I don’t know you but I sincerely hope you get well soon Jonathan. Good to hear you are resting at home with access to your keyboard.

    HonestLogic,

first of all thank you for your kind wishes, they are much appreciated.

Your point is well taken and you are right, I did not read all of both threads which I should have done in order to see the full picture.

The only thing i would say is that two wrongs don’t make a right and if Martyn launched a personal attack on you then I would be just as quick to pick him up on it. I guess my view is that these kind of attacks are never justified no matter what the provocation.

In conclusion i would ask that you modify your language and ry to avoid personal attacks as they add nothing to this forum.

Martyn, if you see this then the same applies to you if you were attacking HonestLogic.

    Safe travels everyone,

    Jonathan

Honest Logic (or indeed Jonathon – sorry to hear you were ill, wish you better R’S)

Please provide the thread, date and time of my PERSONAL attack (and please dont be as childish to interpret corporate/product criticism as a personal attack).

My negative comments about Swiss Disc were all openly available through a Google search. The “catasrophic failure” occured less than a year ago, October 09 and clients did lose data as confirmed by you (see end of post). The 100% uptime is obviously since October 9th, less than 1 years performance after new agreements were implemented.. This is not fiction, this is not Martyn Sinclair trying to destroy a company or MS on a mission; its called putting balance to whoever in Swissdisc, Matt, Ben or Ken AKA “Honest Logic” is trying to hide. All you need to do is type in to Google “Swissdisc” and the word “scam” automatically comes up. Most concerning when there are so many entries. Again, this is not fiction, but fact.

Any director of a company who makes serious and unfounded allegations of sexual impropriety in on open forum is in my mind not fit to hold such a position – this is a personal comment (not an attack). To accuse I think it was BABenji of viewing porn and to accuse me of other sexual deviancies shows a distinct lack of maturity and proffessionalism (again, not an attack, but a comment).

The best though of your latest post is that you provide a written guarantee that

“FYI ‘sport’ – if you did more than surface research you’d know the fact is 99.5% of the data lost when SwissDisk had it’s problem was on FREE accounts. I guess that only proves that “you get what you pay for”. Paid accounts get treated with a different priority… !!”

…….confirming that you guys did indeed lose your clients data and as that is written in the public domain, can legally be used in advertising by your competitors. I presume that your T & C’s warn free account holders of the fact that you treat them differently, hence if you lose their data, tough !

Just for the record, our flight department are roll testing iPADs as back ups for flight plans and approach chart managament as well as aircraft performance data tables, providing a significant weight savings resulting in cost efficiencies. As I said earlier, iPAD can not replace laptops and works as a paperless storage solution and access point to the web (but not whilst flying…yet). We do not have any FAA or CAA approvals for using this system yet, but if our tests are succesful, we will be ordering further iPADS. You are right about one thing in that we dont use iPhones.

I am more than happy to remove any post that contains inaccuracies or fiction. As far as my credabilty is concenred, well, i will leave that to the views of the forum.

You may criticisize any part of my posting HS, but please do not start being childish and introducing subjects that show a lack of maturity (which your previous comments quite clearly were as I see you have now deleted).

Have a lovely day in W. Tropicana.

    Regards

    Martyn Sinclair

MartynSinclair has anyone ever gotten any benefit from your posts? Ever? Why do you waste your time when good people are here to learn about the iPad and great services like compliment it like SwissDisk?

Considering the amount of time you have spent trying to denegrate SwissDisk I would think you could at least spell the name correctly in your Google search… swissdisC? not! lame!

I guess I must have pushed a button, did I hurt your feelings? You resort to calling SwissDisk a ‘scam’? Posting lies? NOW THAT’S A JOKE IF I EVER READ ONE!! why are you wasting peoples time like this?

What you are posting is fiction. Where is the ‘scam’? Where? Please show me where SwissDisk has ever been associated with a scam… YOU CAN’T! Posting lies, how does this help anyone? Do you sleep well knowing that you are a liar?

You’ve made it very clear that you don’t like the iPad so why do you care if someone uses their amazing iPad to access an awesome service like SwissDisk?

Trying to ‘out’ me and accuse me of giving away SwissDisk company secrets as an inside operative is an interesting spin… but once again it’s not relevant to anything that could help a Business Traveler using an iPad. Pitiful to say the least…

I would be proud to work for SwissDisk considering the quality of the service that is provided… and I can sleep well because I post the truth!

HL – for goodness sake – HL, the fact you take my comments about Swissdisc so personally is an issue you need to resolve yourself. I have not reported anything new – everything was available through Google and is therefore considered as public information. If you take this all too personally, well, yaaaaaawwwwwwwn, quite frankly, you should not be in business. I am sure that the 3 of you at Swisslogic (with a C) are jolly nice chaps, all I have done is to back up my comments with research by third parties (and there is plenty of it) on the web. My tone is very neutral I have not personally insulted you or accused you of things which quite frankly belong in a xxx forum, not a business forum.

HL – as far as the post you made that was a personal and unwarranted attack, you or BT have removed it and you know exactly which one (as seen by Jonathan Cohen). I have asked you to provide me with the post where i was personally attacking you, but you have failed to find one (and no, I do not delete posts).

There is no need to delete any of your posts, I think it would actually be a disservice to the forum to delete links to negative posts (perhaps you should advertise the positive posts in Business Traveller!) Just please do me a favour and i have said please, attack my comments and defend the scams that appear on Google under a Swissdisc search, but please remember, you are being extremly unfair believing i am the casue of any of the negative press DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER. I am merely using public records to tell a side of the story you prefer not to hear or prefer to hear doesnt exist. If you take publicly available information as a personal insult, well then it must be your guilty concious, (comment not attack) becasue any negative press we hear about any of our services or products, we do our upmost to resolve, rather than make spurious personal attacks on the reporter.

How you treat your customers or clients, is your choice – the public though have a right to know when a director admits to not caring for a certain class of his customer as you have done above which has now appeared in the public domain. We live or at least you live in the USA, where there is a free press and free reporting so fortuantely for the public, they are free to hear the good, the bad and the scams that any company operate which is the reason for this forum.

Enjoy your day/evening and please re read all the previos posts because you still seem to think I dont like iPAD – nothing could be further from the truth – it is a brilliant piece of kit – and if we are able to use it for the purpose we are hoping, it will save my company a 6 figure sum, in terms of weight saving on our aircraft.

Get real and yaaaawwwwnnnnn, change your record.

(By the way, I have previoulsy apologized openly for an unfair post I made to one of the forums most senior contributors – I am not proud I needed to apologize, but was man enough to do so).
