United Airlines has opened its second lounge at Newark Liberty International airport in just over a year.
The 1,400 sqm United Club facility in the airport’s Terminal A has seating for over 300 guests, with features including self-scan entry gates, a bar and buffet with dishes such as saltwater taffy and ham, egg and cheese sandwiches (apparently the official sandwich of the state of New Jersey).
There is also a wellness room providing space “for nursing parents or travellers looking to mediate or pray”.
The lounge’s industrial loft design has been inspired by New York and New Jersey, with artwork by local artists including a feature mural by Newark-based artist Antoinnette Ellis-Williams.
The facility is located near gate A27, and is open daily from 0500 to 2115. It follows the unveiling of Newark’s revamped Terminal A at the start of this year.
United’s new Terminal A lounge joins the carrier’s Club facility within the airport’s Terminal C3, which became the largest lounge in carrier’s network when it opened last year, with some 480 seats and six “spa-like shower suites”.

The airline is in the process of rolling out its new Club design, with a new lounge opening at Chicago O’Hare’s Terminal 1 earlier this year, and new and revamped lounges also set to be unveiled at Denver International airport later this summer.
