Hyatt has announced plans to significantly expand its portfolio across Germany and Central and Eastern Europe, following an “exclusive collaboration agreement” with the family-run Lindner Hotels.

The group is expected to add more than 30 hotels across seven European countries, with the majority of the existing properties being reflagged under the JDV by Hyatt brand.

Lindner Hotels was founded in 1973 by architect Otto Linder, and operates under the Linder Hotels and Resorts, and Me and All brand in cities including Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Hamburg.

The deal will see Hyatt add around 5,500 rooms to its portfolio.

Hyatt added JDV to its portfolio when it acquired Two Roads Hospitality in 2018, and the brand currently counts around 20 hotels across North America, China and Europe, including three Swedish properties added in 2021.

Arno Schwalie, chief executive officer of Lindner, called the collaboration “truly unique”, adding that as part of the JDV brand Lindner would remain “a strong brand with its own identity and corporate independence”.

Meanwhile Mark Hoplamazian, president and chief executive officer, Hyatt, said:

“We are thrilled to continue Hyatt’s asset-light growth journey in Europe through this meaningful strategic collaboration with Lindner.

“The addition of Lindner’s desirable hotel portfolio will substantially grow Hyatt’s brand footprint in Germany and bring our guests and ultimately our World of Hyatt members to a variety of new destinations across Europe including Kiel, Leipzig, Sylt, Bratislava and Interlaken.

“We are grateful for the trust the Lindner team is placing in us and are excited to strengthen our collective guest offering through strategic capital investments being made by Lindner into the portfolio.”

Last month Hyatt announced plans to add the first Bulgarian hotels under its recently launched Inclusive Collection.

The existing Black Sea resort properties are expected to join the collection by 2024, following “significant renovations”, and will add nearly 2,000 rooms in destinations including Sunny Beach and the seaside town of Obzor.
