Marriott is set to open a new UK hotel under its lifestyle Moxy brand in Plymouth next year.
The 200-room new-build Moxy Hotel Plymouth will be situated on Millbay Boulevard, a project which has transformed the former Bath Road adjacent to the Plymouth Pavilions entertainment venue into a wider boulevard linking the city centre and waterfront area.
The six-floor hotel will feature a ground floor restaurant and bar opening out onto the revamped street.
The Plymouth Herald reports that the property had been scheduled to open in 2022, but has faced delays due to constructions issues and Covid-19, with completion now expected in early 2023.
The £6 million Millbay Boulevard project will also eventually comprise residential, office and retail space, as well as a new public square to the north of the development equipped with power for local events.
Marriott launched the Moxy brand in 2013, with the first hotel opening in Milan the following year.
The millennial-focused brand currently has around 100 properties across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, with recent openings including Moxy Glasgow SEC and Moxy Bristol.
