Marriott International has opened its second Moxy hotel in Glasgow, located close to the Hydro SSE venue.

Moxy Glasgow SEC features 243 rooms and a décor that pays homage to the many events taking place on its doorstep. Features include musical paraphernalia such as drumsticks hanging from the ceiling and old-style amplifiers, and graffiti-clad walls.

Rooms include free, fast wifi and mood lighting under the beds while 13 suites include a lounge area with a sofa bed. The lobby also includes games and activities, and a communal space for remote working or meeting up with friends. There are also two small meeting rooms close to reception and a 24-hour gym.

In terms of sustainability, the hotel uses mobile keys and bulk toiletries to minimise plastic use, and there are recycling bins in each room.

Guests receive a complimentary cocktail upon check-in, and can book themed experiences for milestones, birthdays or gatherings.

The hotel is also dog-friendly, and parking for guests is available at the nearby Hydro multi-story carpark.

David Steele, the hotel’s general manager (or ‘Captain’ in Moxy speak), commented:

“COP26 was our first piece of business and the hotel was full for the duration. It’s been a challenging year for the hospitality industry but to open and have every bedroom full for the conference was a great way to kick off this fabulous new hotel.”

The hotel joins sister property Moxy Glasgow Merchant City in the Scottish city.

Marriott launched the Moxy brand in 2013, with the first hotel opening in Milan the following year. The millenial-focused brand currently has around 70 properties across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, with recent openings including Moxy SloughMoxy Bordeaux and Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge.
