Fast-growing hotel brand Selina has opened its sixth US hotel in Chicago.

The 16-floor Selina Chicago is located in the Gold Coast neighbourhood, a seven-minute walk from the city’s Magnificent Mile.

draws inspiration from the city’s art scene, blending it with the brand’s Latin roots. Interiors include rich colours, gold accents, a diverse collection of artwork, and upcycled furniture.

The 600-room hotel includes room categories ranging from community rooms to lofts, apartments, suites and hybrid rooms. The property also comprises a communal kitchen, library, cinema, wellness centre and a multifunctional bar, cafe, restaurant and concept store.

Howm, which already exists at the brand’s New York site, serves healthy juices and smoothies, coffee from Chicago-based company Intelligentsia, and “wellness-minded” drinks from Chicago-based non-alcoholic spirit company Ritual Zero Proof. It will also offer brunch with DJ sets and all-day breakfast.

The space will transform from day to night, housing events such as art exhibitions by local universities, fashion pop-ups, and comedy nights, and different events can take place simultaneously in the bar and main restaurant and retail space.

Rafael Museri, CEO and co-founder of Selina, commented on the opening:

“Opening in Chicago marks a major milestone for Selina as we continue to grow our brand globally. We are looking forward to sharing our experiential lifestyle and Latin roots with major US cities like Chicago, and our planned location in Washington D.C.”

The hotel will join the brand’s recent UK openings in Camden and Brighton. Selina launched in 2015 and currently has 116 open or secured properties across 20 countries worldwide.
