Hilton Garden Inn has unveiled images of the interiors at its property in Stoke-on-Trent, set to open by the end of 2020.
The £20 million Hilton Garden Inn Stoke-on-Trent will be part of the city’s Smithfield mixed-use development in Hanley and owned by developer Genr8.
Interiors have been designed by architecture and interior design studio ICA and have drawn inspiration from the city’s rich pottery heritage – the area has been nicknamed “The Potteries” and is home to well-known brands including Wedgwood, Spode and Royal Doulton brands. Ceramic-inspired features include a bespoke tiled welcome wall and carpet designs in the public areas.
The property continues to pay homage to Stoke-on-Trent with a nod to the late aircraft designer Reginald Mitchell, who was born in the city. Mitchell’s Spitfire design has been echoed in the timber dividing screens in the public area and decorative etching on the mirrors.
The 140-room hotel will also have a restaurant, fitness centre and 104 sqm of meetings and event space, including three meeting rooms.
Nicola Ramsay, lead interior designer at ICA, commented:
“Working on Hilton Garden Inn Stoke on Trent was a great opportunity as it allowed us to engage with local businesses and artisans which enabled us to represent both the rich history and the future evolution of the Potteries.”
Richard Ingham, partner at Genr8 Developments, added:
“It’s a privilege to be bringing the Hilton brand to Stoke-on-Trent and we’re delighted with the way the hotel is going to look. Stoke’s renaissance has been well-documented, and it’s essential that as the city continues to grow, the right infrastructure is in place to support it. Bringing a hotel of this calibre to the city centre will ensure that Stoke-on-Trent’s increasing tourist economy can be effectively supported.”
