Hyatt has announced plans for its second hotel in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.

Andaz Lisbon will comprise of five buildings including the former offices of Banco Portugues de Investimento, which will house the hotel’s 169 rooms, surrounded by four satellite buildings offering “various private suites”.

The property will be located in the city’s Baixa district on the pedestrianised Rua Augusta, and will offer a rooftop restaurant and bar, a spa and fitness centre, and signature Andaz Studio events spaces.

The hotel is scheduled to open in 2024, and will become the second Hyatt-branded property in the city, with the Hyatt Regency Lisbon currently set to be unveiled in 2022.

Hyatt to open first Portuguese property

The first Andaz hotel opened in 2007 in London, housed within the former Great Eastern Hotel, and there are currently 25 Andaz properties globally, but European expansion has been relatively slow.

Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht followed in 2012, followed by Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere and Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor last year. A Prague property is also set to open in 2022.
