Turkish Airlines has begun operating one of its first Boeing 787-9 aircraft on its route between London Heathrow and Istanbul.
The carrier is set to receive 30 Dreamliners over the next four years.
The aircraft feature a new business class product with a 1-2-1 configuration, 44 inches of legroom, a 76-inch fully-flat bed and an 18-inch HD screen. The seat is the Aurora by Stelia Aerospace.
Turkish Airlines will offer 30 seats in business and 270 in economy.
The Dreamliners also feature a new economy seat with 12- and 13-inch screens, six inches of recline and 31 inches of legroom.
Turkish says destinations for the aircraft will include New York, Washington DC, Atlanta, Dubai, Amsterdam and Bali.
We have contacted the airline for further details on the current and upcoming routes it will serve.
According to Simple Flying, the Dreamliner will replace the A330-300 on Turkish Airlines’ Istanbul-New York JFK route from August 10, 2020.
Celal Baykal, Turkish Airlines’ London General Manager, said: “The Dreamliner is our new flagship aircraft and we’re delighted to be able to offer passengers the chance to fly on it today.
“The London to Istanbul route is amongst the busiest in our network and one we’ve been operating for almost 50 years, welcoming hundreds of thousands of holiday makers and business travellers during that time.”
Turkish Airlines flies to London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester.
The carrier is now based at Istanbul’s huge new airport, where it will have five lounges.
