Turkish Airlines has entered into a codeshare agreement with Kuwait Airways. Effective from August 1, this strategic partnership will allow the two national flag carriers to place their codes on each other’s flights operating between Kuwait and Istanbul/Sabiha Gokcen Airports.

Currently, Kuwait Airways operates seven weekly flights to Istanbul and seven weekly flights to Sabiha Gokcen; while Turkish Airlines operates 28 flights from Istanbul, and 14 flights from Sabiha Gokcen.

Commenting on the new bilateral codeshare partnership, Bilal Ekşi, general manager, Turkish Airlines said, “The opening of our new home base, Istanbul Airport will further contribute and create new opportunities for our airline and I firmly believe that this codeshare agreement will support promoting the cultural and commercial relations between Istanbul and Kuwait.

“Both Turkish Airlines and Kuwait Airways will work closely to offer the best services to our passengers and improve the customer experience. ”

Interestingly, the signing of this new deal comes two months after the two airlines finalised their renewed “Special Prorate Agreement.”

Meanwhile, both the airlines are also working on incorporating frequent flyer programme for these codeshare flights.
