Intercontinental Hotels Group is to open a 100-room Hotel Indigo property in Madrid later this year.
The Hotel Indigo Madrid – Princesa will be located in the Moncloa-Arguelles area towards the north of the city centre, and is scheduled this autumn.
Facilities will include a destination restaurant, fitness centre, and “a stunning rooftop with sweeping views of the city”.
The property will be the second under IHG’s boutique brand in the Spanish capital, joining Hotel Indigo Madrid Gran Via which opened in 2014. The brand also operates an 82-room hotel in Barcelona.
IHG signed 33 forthcoming properties to its Hotel Indigo brand last year, with Southern Europe set to welcome hotels in Venice, Milan and Belgrade this year, followed by Verona in 2020, and Gibraltar in 2021.
Commenting on the news Eric Viale, Managing Director Southern Europe, IHG, said:
“The strong growth of openings and pipeline of our Hotel Indigo and Kimpton brands reflect the opportunity across the boutique hotel sector, which is among the fastest growing in the industry.
“With appetite for unique, design-led hotels continuing to increase across Southern European markets, we are perfectly placed to take advantage of that growth and look forward to welcoming guests from around the world to these popular and historic locations.”
