Sheraton to revamp Edinburgh property

15 Dec 2009 by Mark Caswell

The Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh is to benefit from a refurbishment of its guest rooms and suites, with a new Grand Suite and executive Club floor being added.

The hotel celebrates its 25th anniversary next year, and will start the revamp in January, with completion due by July. All rooms will get a makeover, with mood lighting, media hubs, the brand’s signature Sweet Sleeper bed, and and new glass-walled bathrooms, featuring separate bath and walk-in showers.

As the rooms are spread across two wings, the work will be carried out in two phases in order to minimise disruption to for guests.

The hotel’s room count will also be increased to 268, and a Club floor will be created on the top floor of the hotel, complete with a lounge offering complimentary continental breakfast, evening drinks, canapes, and wifi internet access.

Sheraton added Club facilities to its two Heathrow properties last year (see online news September 29, 2008), and says its has invested $6 billion in a three-year global overhaul of the brand, including 70,000 new or renovated guest rooms and 300 new lobbies featuring the LINK @ Sheraton experience with free wifi internet access.
