Lufthansa has confirmed that its long-awaited Allegris cabins will take to the skies from the start of next month.

The first A350 fitted with the new cabins will enter service between Munich and Vancouver from 1 May, with the aircraft also serving Toronto alternately on selected flights in the first few months.

As more A350s are delivered Allegris will also appear on routes to Chicago and Montreal this summer.

Lufthansa first unveiled the new economy, premium economy, business and first class Allegris products in October 2022, and Business Traveller had a preview of the cabins at an event in early 2023.

Note that initially first class will not be available – Lufthansa said that “With the delivery of more A350 aircraft, the new First Class will also be available for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2024”.

During the introductory phase customers will be informed around three weeks before their flight if their aircraft is set to feature the Allegris cabins.

As previously reported, the new business class cabins will feature a range of different seating types, with fares priced accordingly.

However initially business class customers will be able to select between choices including the suites, extra space seats and extra long beds without additional charge (subject to availability).

Economy and premium economy customers will be able to reserve seats in advance for a fee, or for free during check-in – as is currently the case.

Lufthansa plans to eventually offer Allegris on more than 100 new A350 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft, as well as retrofitting the cabins on existing 747-8s.

Last month Lufthansa Group said it would take delivery of more than 30 aircraft this year, including 20 long-haul aircraft joining Lufthansa’s fleet.
