American Airlines is introducing a new programme of rotating amenity kits, alongside enhanced bedding and new dining options.

The carrier has collaborated with beauty retailer Thirteen Lune to offer the firm’s skincare products in its new amenity kits in Flagship First Class, Flagship Business Class and premium economy cabins.

As well as a primary kit available year-round AA said it would collaborate with “diverse designers and brands based primarily in the US” to offer limited edition kits, starting with a Thirteen Lune-branded kit to celebrate the new partnership.

The airline is also introducing new dual-sided pillows in Flagship First and Business, featuring a cool touch fabric on one side and traditional fabric on the other. AA said research has showed that 75 per cent of its customers prefer pillows with different materials on each side.

Flagship First passengers will continue to be offered pyjamas, while all customers in Flagship Business will now be given slippers, a benefit previously only offered on ultra-long-haul flights.

The carrier has collaborated with inflight textile company John Horsfall to offer enhanced bedding made from recycled materials in all classes, with cabin-specific options including lumbar pillows, throw blankets, premium duvets and fleece blankets.

Finally AA is introducing new dining options this summer including macadamia crusted sea bass with citrus cream sauce, quinoa, toasted orzo, and haricots verts; chili marinated chicken with mojo verde sauce, sweet potato mash, roasted corn; and mini chili or gnocchi duet with plain and beetroot gnocchi, lentil ragout, apple chutney, brown butter, roasted spring onion and sliced green onion.

The new inflight amenities come ahead of the introduction of the carrier’s new business class Flagship Suite on forthcoming Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A321XLR aircraft, as well as retrofitted 777-300s.

AA said that it would offer a new Flagship Suite Preferred seat on its 787-9 and 777-300 aircraft, located in the front row and with benefits including more space, several storage areas and “exclusive amenities like a Nest Bedding mattress pad, a throw blanket, a memory foam lumbar pillow, Nest Bedding pyjamas and an exclusive amenity kit featuring additional skincare products from Thirteen Lune by Joanna Vargas and Relevant”.

Commenting on the news Kim Cisek, American’s vice president of customer experience, said:

“We thoughtfully curate each element of the onboard experience so every customer can look forward to the time they spend in flight. Part of the magic of travel is connecting our customers to the people and experiences that matter most to them. We’re taking that concept to the skies by introducing a new, dynamic onboard programme that’s inspired by feedback from our customers and team members.”
