Etihad has welcomed three new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to its fleet at Abu Dhabi Zayed International airport, sporting the carrier’s new cabin interior.

The two-class aircraft will begin operations this month, and feature a brand-new interior with 32 Business Suites and 271 economy seats – including 54 extra legroom seats with four inches of additional legroom.

The business class cabin features a customised version of the Elements seat manufactured by Collins, and Etihad marks the first airline to introduce this seat on the Boeing 787.

All seats in business include direct aisle access and Business Suites feature fully-flat beds, measuring 78 inches in length, with a 17.3-inch 4K TV screen, Bluetooth headphone pairing, wireless charging and multiple charging ports.

In economy, meanwhile, passengers will benefit from a 13.3-inch 4K touchscreen monitor and the option to pair personal phones and tablets to the screen to use as a remote.

The aircraft is also fitted with high-speed wifi with streaming capabilities as well as live TV, including news and sport channels.

The new aircraft follows the delivery of Boeing 787-10 aircraft last October, which added further capacity to support the carrier’s network expansion.

Over the coming months the airline is launching a number of new routes, including flights to Boston from 31 March, Bali from 23 April and Nairobi from 1 May, plus summer services to Nice, Malaga, Mykonos and Santorini.

The airline now operates 43 Dreamliners and a total fleet of 88 aircraft, which also includes Airbus A380, A350, A320 family, and Boeing 777 aircraft, and aims to fly to 125 destinations with more than 160 aircraft by 2030.

Antonoaldo Neves, CEO at Etihad Airways, said:

“We are thrilled to welcome these brand-new, state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners to Abu Dhabi. Their arrival is key to our network expansion strategy and comes at the perfect time as we continue to add multiple new destinations and expand frequencies into key markets.

“These new aircraft support our commitment to Abu Dhabi, allowing us to bring more guests to experience the incredible capital of the UAE, either as their end destination or on a stopover when connecting across our expanding network.”

Etihad recently unveiled a number of changes to its Etihad Guest programme from this summer, as well as launching a new collection of amenity kits and loungewear created in partnership with Italian design house, Giorgio Armani, and luxury brand ESPA.
