Cathay Group’s CEO Ronald Lam has outlined plans to extend free inflight wifi beyond first class passengers later this year.

In an New Year message sent to loyalty programme members, Lam said that Cathay Pacific was aiming to expand complimentary wifi to both business class passengers and Cathay Diamond members by mid-2024.

The email gave customers an update on the group’s plans to revamped its fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Last year Cathay teased the new ‘Aria’ business class suite which will debut on the revamped 777s, and Lam also confirmed that the retrofitted aircraft will also feature a new premium economy cabin.

Finally Lam provided a general update on the carrier’s network post Covid-19, with 70 per cent of pre-pandemic flights now restored.

The group’s most recently released traffic figures reported 1,633,145 passengers being carried during November 2023, an increase of 210 per cent compared with the same period in 2022.

In the first 11 months of 2023 the number of passengers carried increased by 709.2 per cent compared with the same period in 2022.
