Accor has announced plans to open an ibis Styles hotel close to Hungary’s second largest airport.

The new-build property will feature 73 rooms and 20 apartments over four floors, as well as a restaurant, bar and café, and is schedule to open in the second half of 2025.

The hotel will be developed by XANGA Investment and Development Group, former operator of Debrecen International airport.

The property will join the recently opened of Mercure Debrecen, as well as around 20 Accor hotels in and around Hungary’s capital Budapest, under brand’s including ibis, Mercure, Novotel, TRIBE and Sofitel.

Debrecen International airport is located around 5km southwest of the city centre, and currently has links to the UK via Wizz Air’s route to and from London Luton airport.

Commenting on the news Dilek Sezer, development director, South Eastern Europe Accor, said:

“It is a unique opportunity for us to brand the first hotel at Debrecen International Airport, as well as – following recent opening of Mercure Debrecen – to consolidate our presence in Debrecen and further expand our regional network.”

Accor recently opened an ibis Styles property close to Warsaw Chopin airport, and the 358-room new-build ibis Styles Munich Airport is also under development.
