Marriott International has confirmed that the UK’s third W Hotels property will be located in Manchester.
There had been speculation for several months that the group would announce plans for a W property within the mixed use St Michael’s development on Jackson’s Row in Manchester’s city centre.
And Marriott has now confirmed that it will open the 162-room W Manchester in early 2027, featuring two restaurants, retail space, and the brand’s signature facilities including the Living Room, WET deck, W Lounge, AWAY Spa and FIT fitness centre.
The wider St Michael’s complex is being developed by former Manchester United football player Gary Neville’s company Relentless Developments, with the first phase set to feature 185,000 square feet of office space, a new public realm and a rooftop restaurant with views across Manchester.
W Manchester will join the existing W London – Leicester Square, which opened in 2011, and W Edinburgh which is scheduled to open next month.
Commenting on the news Paul Thomas, vice president – development, UK and Ireland, Marriott International, said:
“W Hotels dynamic style and forward-thinking culture is a perfect brand fit both for Manchester – a city famed for its music and art scene – and St Michael’s with Relentless and Salboy at the helm of the development.
“St Michael’s offers world-class working, residential and retail space, it is the ideal partner for the next UK W Hotel.”
