Mandarin Oriental is gearing up to open its first property in Zurich in early 2024.
The city’s historic Savoy Baur en Ville hotel has been closed since 2022 for renovations, and will reopen as the Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich, with bookings now being taken for stays from 1 March, 2024.
The building was founded in 1838 by Johannes Baur, a baker apprentice from Vorarlberg, and is located on Paradeplatz, the main square in Zurich’s old town.
When it reopens the hotel will offer 44 rooms and 36 suites, with interiors by Paris-based designer Tristan Auer.
Facilities will include fine dining Italian restaurant ORSINI – led by Consultant Chef Antonio Guida from the two-Michelin-starred Seta restaurant at Mandarin Oriental, Milan – as well as the French-inspired all day dining Savoy Brasserie and Bar, and rooftop bar 1838.
The hotel will also offer 800 sqm of meeting and events space, including the restored grand ballroom and historic guild hall.
The upcoming opening follows the recent unveiling of a six-month renovation project at the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, and the scheduled opening of the group’s second London property in the capital’s Mayfair district this autumn.
