The Mandarin Oriental, Singapore has unveiled its six-month renovation project, taking in the hotel’s rooms, lobby and F&B spaces.

The 510-room property – which first opened in 1987 overlooking Singapore’s Marina Bay – closed in March this year to allow for works to take place.

Design firm DESIGNWILKES has updated the hotel’s interiors with inspiration “from signature Singaporean elements, such as Peranakan style architecture, black and white houses and Angsana trees”.

Rooms have been redesigned to “blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors”, with those facing Marina Bay featuring “dappled batik patterns and a cooler colour palette”, rooms facing the South China Sea “bathed in warm tones reminiscent of the morning sun”, and those facing the city being “infused with Singapore’s verdant greenery through lush botanical prints”.

As previously reported, the renovated lobby lounge HAUS 65 has been curated by private members’ club Mandala Club, with features including daily wine tasting led by sommeliers and winemakers.

All day dining restaurant embu offers a garden-style space with a tailored kids’ buffet and playground, and the MO BAR is also set to reopen this month.

The reopening comes as Mandarin Oriental gears up to unveils its second London property in the city’s Mayfair district this autumn.

The group also recently announced plans for a third hotel in the UK capital, as part of part of the 2.2 hectare mixed-use Bankside Yards development, which has been designed to reconnect the space between the Tate Modern and Blackfriars Station.

“As we reopen, we are excited to bring the soul of Singapore to life through our transformation, weaving together Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service and the rich tapestry of local culture, delivering an immersive Singapore experience to our guests.”
