Marriott International has signed an agreement with NEOM to open two luxury properties including Saudi Arabia’s first W Hotel and a JW Marriott hotel in Trojena.

Trojena which is currently under construction is NEOM’s mountain destination located in the northwest of Saudi Arabia will be the host venue for the 2029 Asian Winter Games.

“We are excited to work with NEOM to develop these two exciting properties in one of the most highly anticipated developments in the world,” said Chadi Hauch, regional vice president, Lodging Development, Middle East, Marriott International.

The W Hotel in Trojena will feature 236 guest rooms, including 47 suites, with views of the mountains and a freshwater lake. The property will have signature brand spaces including a Living Room, WET Deck, W Lounge, AWAY Spa and FIT fitness centre.

The W hotel will also have four dining venues and retail space too. It will be situated within the region’s Lake Village. Lake Village which includes a 2.8km lake will also be home to a range of retail and dining offerings, fresh food and shopping markets and entertainment areas.

Also, a new JW Marriott Hotel in Trojena will be situated in The Bow, a futuristic water world which will combine nature with technology. Immersed inside the Lake and surrounded by mountains, the substructure will be designed to withstand the weight and pressure of the surrounding water while remaining spaces will be easily adaptable to allow for multi-season use including an atrium capable of hosting largescale events.

The JW Marriott property will include 500 rooms and suites, as well as extensive entertainment and recreational offerings including a ballroom, meeting spaces, five dining venues, a fitness club, a kid’s club, swimming pools and a spa.

Other hospitality brands which have been announced for Trojena include Anantara, The Chedi and Collective Retreats.

In June, Minor Hotels confirmed that it will open an Anantara branded property in Trojena. The 270-key Anantara resort will offer a selection of guest rooms and suites, some with private pools, and each of them offering either lake or mountain views.

General Hotel Management (GHM) also signed an agreement with Neom Hotel Development to manage an upcoming property. The Chedi Trojena is located within the Slope Residences in Trojena’s Relax Cluster that focuses on rejuvenation and wellness programmes.

Also, Collective Retreats will open its property in Trojena in 2026. The retreat will feature approximately 60 open-air guest rooms and meeting space concepts, as well as water features, communal campfires and culinary experiences.
