Plans have been unveiled for a new boutique hotel off Park Lane in London’s Mayfair district.
Bain Capital Special Situations and Orka Investments Limited have received planning permission to convert the former Park Lane Mews Hotel into an 82-room luxury property, featuring a signature restaurant, lobby bar and café, and a private members’ space.
The development – which is located towards the bottom end of Park lane close to upmarket hotels including the Four Seasons, Intercontinental and Sheraton Grand – will also see the creation of 16 luxury residences across two restored townhouses on Hertford Street.
“The opportunity to design and deliver a new hotel in Mayfair is rare and privileged one,” said Timothy Shepherd, managing director at architects Buckley Gray Yeoman.
“We have approached the design with care and attention to detail to ensure it blends into the fabric of Mayfair society with effortless style.
“We envision the hotel becoming a classic within the London hotel market whilst demonstrating how retaining and restoring properties and constructing new buildings, where necessary, can unify sensitive and exceptional parts of London.”
Rafael Coste Campos, managing director of Bain Capital Special Situations said that the plans called for “a world-class, energy-efficient hotel”, with the project aiming for a BREEAM Excellent rating by retaining and refurbishing much of the existing building.
The number of hotel projects in Mayfair shows no sign of slowing, with the forthcoming opening of the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair this autumn, the unveiling of The Twenty Two hotel last year, and recent news that The Cavendish London is set to be refurbished and reflagged under Ascott’s The Crest Collection.
