Aparthotel brand Locke has opened its sixth London property, located on Cromwell Road within walking distance of Earls Court Underground station.
Ember Locke is housed within the former NH Kensington hotel, and features 121 apartments across eight floors, as well as a fitness centre, laundry room, co-working space, meeting room and a garden.
Food and beverage venue EVE will follow in September, offering a restaurant, bar and cafe “inspired by the diverse flavours and breaking bread cultures of the eastern and southern Mediterranean regions”.
The property’s design has been inspired by the Kensington Roof Gardens (which operated in various forms on the top of a building on Kensington High Street between 1938 and 2018), and 1960s/70s fashion label Biba, resulting in an “Art Deco design style combined with 21st century retro futurism”.
The aparthotel also features bespoke pieces by art and design studio House of Dré, as well as works by local and up-and-coming artists.
Business Traveller will be visiting the property in September and our Tried and Tested review will be published on businesstraveller.com in due course.
Owned by extended stay group edyn – which also operate the Cove and SACO brands – Locke is named after 17th century English philosopher and physician John Locke, with the first property opening in London’s Aldgate district in 2016.
There are now 13 Locke aparthotels across Europe, with recent openings including Locke at East Side Gallery in Berlin, and Wunderlocke in Munich.
The brand is also set to open its first property in Paris next year, housed within an 18th century mansion in the city’s 5th arrondissement.

Commenting on the news Eric Jafari, chief development officer and creative director, Locke, said:
“We’re very excited to be opening our first property in West London, in an ideal neighbourhood for Locke.
“This part of West London has long captured the attention of leisure and business travellers alike – you have some of the city’s best museums and shopping locations on your doorstep and in the last few years the area has had a real spotlight on it, with some of the best restaurants in London opening here.
“With the buzzing neighbourhood of Notting Hill close by and tranquil Hyde Park moments away, we are excited for Ember Locke to open its doors for guests.”
