RIU Hotels and Resort has opened its first UK property, with the unveiling of Riu Plaza London Victoria.

The hotel is housed within 1 Neathouse Place opposite Victoria station, a building previously home to an Argos outlet and office space.

The 12-floor property was originally built in the 1960s, but was renovated in the 1990s, and features a circular glass tower known as the “drum” which is now home to the hotel’s lobby.

The four-star Riu Plaza London Victoria offers 435 rooms, as well as a lobby bar, a fitness centre, and a restaurant serving buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner.

The property is situated in an area home to several properties including the Park Plaza Victoria London, citizenM London Victoria Station, and DoubleTree by Hilton London Victoria.

RIU Hotels and Resorts was founded in Mallorca in 1953, and currently operates a portfolio of 96 properties across 20 countries.

The Riu Plaza brand was launched in 2010 with the opening of the Riu Plaza Panama, and has since grown to include ten hotels in destinations including Guadalajara, Miami Beach, San Francisco, New York, Berlin and Dublin, with hotels also under development in Chiacgo and Toronto.
