The Hoxton will open its latest European property in April 2023, with the unveiling of a 198-room hotel in Brussels.

The Hoxton, Brussels will occupy the brutalist-style Victoria Tower, the former European headquarters of IBM, north of the city centre and close to the Botanical Garden and Northern Business District.

The hotel will include 70s-inspired rooms with design by Aime Studios underpinned by Brutalist shapes and motifs.

The 22-storey building will include a double-height lobby with a retro-style bar, two dining venues and The Apartment meeting and events space.

The building will also be home to the brand’s third outpost of its co-working concept Working From, which currently has locations in London’s Southwark and Chicago. Working From will open in June 2023 and occupy four floors of the building, with open desks, studios, breakout spaces, and communal pantries on each floor.

Features will include polished plaster walls, bold geometric forms and a collection of vintage furniture sourced predominantly from Belgian antique stores and flea markets. There will also be greenery throughout to reflect the neighbouring botanical gardens, while bespoke murals have been commissioned from artists Madeleine Schilling and Claire de Quenetain.

Rooms will be furnished with raw materials with high lacquered finishes, velvet upholstery, walnut cabinets and graphic rugs inspired by the original concrete facade. Bathrooms, meanwhile, will have pink washbasins, deep blue metro tiles and oversized terrazzo flooring.

Dining venues will include the ground-floor Peruvian all-day restaurant, bar and terrace Cantina Valentina. The concept was developed at a three-month residency at the basement wine bar beneath The Hoxton in London’s Holborn, with a menu overseen by chef Adam Rawson.

Bar and taqueria Tope, the sister outpost of Tope Poblenou in Barcelona, will occupy the rooftop and offer a menu of classic tacos, slow-cooked meats and charred vegetables. Interiors will include a cactus garden, pink Zellige tiles, whitewash floors, earthy plasterwork and vivid yellow accents, and the wraparound terrace will be open in summer.

The Apartment meeting and events concept will be located on the ground floor and comprise three meeting rooms centred around a pantry.

The hotel has a pre-opening offer for those that book before March 1 for stays until May 31, 2023, with rates of €150 with a €30 restaurant credit to spend during the stay.

The Hoxton brand launched in London’s Shoreditch in 2006, and is part of global lifestyle hotel company Ennismore, in which Accor holds a majority stake.

The Hoxton has 11 hotels open across Europe and North America in locations including London, Paris, Amsterdam, RomeBarcelona, New York, Portland, Chicago, Downtown Los Angeles.

The Hoxton recently announced plans to open seven new hotels in Europe by early 2024.

This includes the brand’s fourth hotel in London which is set to open in December in Shepherd’s Bush, along with debuts in Brussels, Berlin, Edinburgh, Vienna and a second property in Amsterdam next year.
