Marriott has signed its latest European W Hotels property, situated on Greece’s Costa Navarino.
W Costa Navarino is scheduled to open this summer within the new Navarino Waterfront development, a 13-hectare beachfront resort in Messinia.
The property will be marketed under the brand’s W Escapes portfolio, and will feature interiors by London-based MKV Design.
Facilities will include 246-rooms, suites and villas, “many with private pools”, as well as five dining venues including a destination beach club and deli food market concept Culinary Square.
A press release states that “tennis courts and a water sports hub are part of the vision for guests to enjoy at W Costa Navarino, along with access to the destination’s four signature golf courses and an array of outdoor programming including biking, hiking, rock-climbing and sailing”.
W Costa Navarino will join two existing Marriot properties in the area – Westin Resort Costa Navarino, and The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort.
There are current 15 under the W Escapes sub-collection, which is described as a collection of properties “located in ski, sand and entertainment destinations around the world, that make the traditional ‘resort’ a last resort”. In Europe these include W Barcelona, W Ibiza and W Verbier.
Marriott recently announced plans for a W hotel in Italy’s Tuscany region, with the W Florence set to open in 2023.
Commenting on the news Candice D’Cruz, Vice President – Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International, said:
“We are thrilled to build on our fantastic relationship with TEMES S.A. to open W Costa Navarino, strengthening Marriott International’s presence in this Mediterranean paradise.
“Joining our portfolio of coveted W Escapes around the world, W Costa Navarino will add a distinct take on modern luxury to Navarino Waterfront. We look forward to welcoming free-spirited travellers to this new luxury playground.”
