IHG Hotels and Resorts is set to open its seventh Kimpton Hotel in Florida next month, located in Fort Lauderdale.

The 96-room Kimpton Goodland Hotel – Fort Lauderdale Beach will be located on North Bird Road at Bayshore Drive, occupying the site of the former Escape Hotel which opened in 1950 as the first year-round resort in the area. The hotel will span three two-story buildings and will feature lush greenery, tropical landscaping and a South Florida colour palette of turquoise and terra cotta “to present an entirely laidback vibe”.

Dining venues will include the ground-floor restaurant The Botanic at The Goodland, serving Latin and Caribbean-inspired sharing plates using locally sourced ingredients, and the pool-side bar and lounge Good Bar, featuring a lighter menu and inventive frozen drinks.

Further facilities include a fitness centre and two private pools with bars and cabanas – one on the ground level and the other on the eighth floor rooftop.

Amenities will include morning coffee and tea service, an evening social hour, complimentary bikes, in-room yoga mats and a pet-friendly policy.

Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino commented:

“We’re so excited to bring The Kimpton Goodland to Fort Lauderdale, as Florida continues to be an important region for our growth.

“The Goodland will provide something different for the destination, serving up an easy-breezy boutique experience and welcoming atmosphere to soon become a locally loved and highly sought-after neighborhood gem.”

The hotel is owned by Banyan Investment Group and operated by Hotel Equities, and will join the recently opened Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach and Kimpton Key West in Florida.

IHG Hotels and Resorts purchased Kimpton in 2014, and has gradually expanded the brand into countries including the Netherlands and the UK.

The group currently operates 25 Kimpton Hotels across 20 destinations, with properties in Paris, Hong Kong, Bali and Shanghai scheduled to open in the next three to five years.
