Accor has announced plans to debut its Fairmont and Raffles brands in Qatar, within a dual-branded development in the forthcoming Lusail City.

The hotels are set to open in 2022, and will be housed within two towers inspired by the national emblem of Qatar, which features traditional scimitar swords.

Announcing the news Accor said:

“Raising gracefully from the podium level, the arched towers will host a luxurious five-star hotel [the Fairmont] with 361 rooms and suites to cater to discerning business travellers, a lavish six-star hotel [the Raffles] with 132 suites to meet the needs of those seeking sophisticated luxury accommodation and 49 branded apartments to become home to permanent residents”

The development will also feature signature restaurants, banqueting and conference space, VIP movie theatres, and a private cigar lounge.

Lusail City is currently under construction to the north of Doha city centre, and will be home to one of the venues for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The Mondrian Doha (also part of the Accor group) is situated in the area, and IHG Hotels and Resorts will welcome a 200-room Hotel Indigo on Lusail Marina in 2023.

Accor currently operates six properties in Qatar, with another nine in the pipeline.

Commenting on the news Sebastien Bazin, chairman and CEO of Accor, said:

“We are extremely excited to announce this iconic property and to showcase it on the world stage in the years to come.

“The arrival of the Raffles and Fairmont brands in Qatar marks an important milestone for Accor, as we endeavour to bring their distinctive levels of quality and luxurious service to residents and travellers alike.

We thank Katara, one of our most valued partners, for once again entrusting us with such a unique project, which is set to become a landmark, not only in Qatar, but in the region.”
