Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced plans for the second property under its boutique Hotel Indigo brand in the Gulf region, and the first in Qatar.

The 200-room Hotel Indigo Doha Lusail is scheduled to open in 2023 and will be located in Lusail Marina, around 30km from Hamad International airport and 23km north of Doha’s city centre.

Features will include a spa, gym and swimming pool, as well as meeting facilities, restaurant, “neighbourhood cafe”, and an executive lounge.

Lusail Marina is part of the Lusail City currently under construction in Doha, which will be the location for one of the stadiums to be used in the 2022 Fifa World Cup.

IHG recently opened a Staybridge Suite property in Lusail, and other hotels in the area include the Mondrian Doha (for a review click here).

Commenting on the news Pascal Gauvin, Managing Director, India, Middle East and Africa, IHG, said:

“As the guest profile visiting the country diversifies, the hospitality sector in Qatar continues to evolve. The introduction of the Hotel Indigo brand in Lusail will respond to the growing demand for upscale lifestyle hotels in the market and also demonstrates our commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030.

“We look forward to offering a unique, locally inspired boutique hotel experience to our guests with the reassurance of a global brand, when we open our doors in 2023.”

IHG is set to open its first Hotel Indigo property in the Gulf region later this year, located in Dubai’s Business Bay.

The Hotel Indigo brand launched in 2004, and currently has around 100 properties across over 15 countries. There are plans to double the portfolio in the next three to five years.
