Luxury hotel group Corinthia has announced plans for its first property in Qatar.
The 100-room hotel will be located on Gewan Island, a forthcoming 400,000 sqm development situated next to The Pearl Qatar.
The property will overlook a planned golf course and beach club, and will feature a 1,000-capacity banquet hall and outdoor patio, spa facilities, and all-day dining and speciality restaurants.
Once complete Gewan Island will include over 700 residential units ranging from apartments to beachfront and waterfront villas, as well as 11,000 sqm of retail space, an outdoor promenade, parks and green space, entertainment facilities, a sports club and a mosque.
Corinthia currently operates hotels in Budapest, Khartoum, London, Lisbon, Malta, Prague, St Petersburg and Tripoli.
The group plans to open a luxury hotel and branded serviced apartments in Moscow in 2021, and is currently restoring a listed building in Brussels. A Dubai property is also set to open next year.
