Plans have been unveiled for the rooftop restaurant concept which will occupy the top two floors of the forthcoming W Edinburgh.

Fusion chain Sushisamba will open its first Scottish location within the hotel, offering its “unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, culture, music and design”.

The restaurant will feature a main dining room with views of the city, alongside a bar and lounge, chefs table and outdoor terraces.

The 244-room W Edinburgh was first announced back in 2016 (when the brand was still operated by Starwood Hotels prior to its merger with Marriott).

W Hotels to open Edinburgh property

The hotel will form part of the mixed use St James Quarter, and is scheduled to open in 2022.

The wider development will also feature a Roomzzz aparthotel, A John Lewis store, Everyman cinema, and 30 new restaurants, cafes and bars

Sushisamba has two restaurants in London’s Heron Tower and Covent Garden, as well as sites in Amsterdam, Las Vegas and Dubai.

Commenting on the news Ed Webb, director of development management at St James Quarter, said:

“From the start, we’ve focused on ensuring St James Quarter attracts world-leading brands and securing Sushisamba for the rooftop of W Edinburgh matches this ambition.

“The Sushisamba brand and offer is a perfect fit for our vision and is a fantastic addition to the existing food line-up at St James Quarter.”

“Sushisamba will bring a new level of energy and excitement to Edinburgh, showcasing a joint vision and innovative concepts not yet seen in the Scottish capital.”
