W Hotels has announced plans to open its first property in Scotland.
Set to open in 2021, the hotel will be the centrepiece of TH Real Estate’s Edinburgh St James development, which is due in 2020. Alongside the hotel, the new development will offer 79,000 sqm of retail space, a multi-screen cinema and up to 250 new homes.
The 12-storey hotel will have 214 guest rooms and 21 suites, plus a rooftop bar and outdoor terrace offering views of the city skyline. Other areas will include W Lounge, a signature restaurant, gym and spa. The hotel will also have 228 sqm of event space.
Director of shopping centres at TH Real Estate Stephen Wicks said:
“From the outset, our intention has been to secure a truly world class hotel operator for Edinburgh St James, complementing the rest of the development and forming an integral part of the scheme’s vibrant offer.”
In the UK, the W Edinburgh will join the W London – Leicester Square, which opened in 2011.
