Emirates has introduced thermal screening measures for all passengers travelling on US flights departing from Dubai International Airport, and suspended flights between Dubai and Italy amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The airline said thermal scanners will be placed at departure gates at Dubai Airport for all US flights.

The airline added that all passengers on arrival also need to undergo thermal screenings as they pass through customs.

Emirates flies to the following destinations in the US: Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington.

Thermal screening procedures will be gradually rolled out for all of its flights departing Dubai to “ensure the health and safety of its customers travelling abroad”.

The airline added that passengers should observe the general recommended time of arrival at the airport, which is three hours ahead of departure.

Suspension of flights to Italy

The airline’s flights between Dubai and Italy have been suspended starting from today, with the final flight operating on March 15. Emirates said it is working with the relevant authorities to monitor the developments closely as the Covid-19 situation evolves.

Emirates flies to Venice, Milan, Bologna and Rome in Italy.

In addition to thermal screening procedures at the airport, Emirates has enhanced its cleaning and disinfection procedures as a precaution against the spread of coronavirus.
