Travellers passing through Boston Logan International Airport’s Terminal B are promised a more streamlined travel experience – and a showcase of local sport heroes, as well.

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) this week unveiled the Great Hall as part of its ongoing Terminal B Optimisation project, which aims to better connect the terminal’s 37 gates, expand and improve ticketing, baggage, concession, and gate operations, and consolidate three existing security checkpoints into one.

The Great Hall is the first element of the project to make a public debut; airport officials said it will improve passenger flow from ticketing to boarding.

Bathed in natural light from a new wall of energy-efficient windows, the hall features new, locally focused concessions and dining, like outlets of Lucca’s and Kelly’s Roast Beef.

Seating areas have been made more comfortable and upgraded with power ports and charging stations, and new children’s and pet areas have been added.

A centrepiece exhibit also highlights Boston’s rich sport history, including information on the city’s championship teams in basketball, ice hockey, baseball, and American football.

American Airlines’ extensive operations in Terminal B have now been consolidated, as well.

A total of 75,000 square feet of new floor space has been added to the terminal, with renovations touching an additional 70,000 square feet of terminal space.
