Dubai International airport has announced a series of short closures of its Northern runway this weekend, in order to carry out “necessary maintenance and upgrades as part of the ongoing runway rehabilitation programme”.

The Northern runway will be closed between 1700 and 1900 local time on Friday May 24, between 1600 and 1900 on Sunday May 26, and between 1700 and 1900 on Monday May 27.

The airport said that the closures “have been carefully planned during the least busy period of the day and in close coordination with airlines and other service partners involved in airport operations, to minimise flight disruptions and keep passenger inconvenience to a minimum”.

Passengers travelling to or from Dubai International on the above dates are advised to check with respective airlines for updates.

The airport’s Southern runway is also in the midst of a 45-day closure for upgrade works, meaning the airport will effectively be closed to all flights during the dates and times noted above.

The Southern runway is scheduled to reopen on May 31.
