Marriott International has closed its JW Marriott Dubai property in the Deira area of the city.

Few details have been given for the hotel’s closure, but a statement on Marriott’s website said that:

“Marriott International has found it necessary to suspend operations at the JW Marriott Dubai in Deira due to circumstances beyond our control that have interfered with our ability to continue to operate the hotel. The hotel will not be open for business as of midnight (GST) on Sunday May 12, 2019.

“We are working closely with impacted associates, guests, and business partners and taking steps to promote a smooth transition.”

The hotel is located on Abu Baker Al Siddique Road near the Hamarain Shopping Centre, and features a rooftop pool and ten food and beverage outlets.

Marriott also operates the JW Marriott Marquis property in Dubai’s Business Bay, which opened in 2013 and at the time was the world’s tallest hotel.

Business Traveller will post further information on the situation here, as and when it is received.
